Ward 4.

Krissy Young

Ward 4 Councillor Candidate | Newmarket

I’ve called Newmarket home for over a decade, and I care deeply about the people and the community I’m proud to call my own.

I am a mom of four, a Southlake hospital volunteer and fundraiser and a teacher, who has spent years giving back and connecting with families throughout our community.

Now, more than ever, leadership matters.

Newmarket is growing and changing. Families are facing rising pressures, seniors need support, newcomers are building new lives and many of us are feeling the uncertainty that comes with change.

I understand those challenges because I’ve lived them.

I know what it means to rebuild your life from the ground up.  I know the realities facing parents — especially single parents.

I also understand the challenges newcomers face. I have personally welcomed and housed a single Ukrainian refugee mother and her son into my home. Together, we navigated the immigration system as they built a new life in Canada.

I’m running to be a voice for:

Families. Seniors. Newcomers. Neighbours. Community.

We need councillors who are connected to the people they represent — leaders who listen, understand the challenges facing their neighbours, and make decisions with the community at heart.

I want the Newmarket I know and love to remain a safe, healthy and welcoming place for our children to grow, our seniors to thrive, and our neighbours to feel proud to call home.

Let’s build a Newmarket we can all be proud of.

Krissy Young — Ward 4 Councillor Candidate

Connected. Compassionate. Community-Focused.

Community Engagement

Meaningful development starts with listening to those who know our town best - the residents. It is my mission to involve prioritizing local voices to ensure our government acts as a true mirror for the goals and needs of all residents. When citizens are prioritized and empowered, we achieve meaningful and reflective results for our streets and businesses. By uniting our efforts, we can establish a clear, inclusive path forward that uplifts every person in Ward 4.

I am deeply invested in our collective success through dedicated volunteer work and fundraising for the essential services that anchor us. I believe a resilient community begins with personal responsibility and mutual support. By mentoring my children through acts of community advocacy, I hope to show them the incredible impact we achieve through shared effort and kindness.

Giving back to my community has always been important to me. For the past 10 years, I’ve run and fundraised in support of the Southlake NICU, a cause incredibly close to my heart after my twins spent the first weeks of their lives on life support. That experience had a lasting impact on me and reinforced something I continue to believe deeply: when people in our community need support, we show up for one another.

Every interaction, every conversation, and every shared moment strengthens the fabric of our home. Let's work together to make a lasting difference.

Our families deserve a councillor who listens. Our neighbours deserve respect. Our community deserves strong, compassionate advocacy when it matters most.
